Atlanta Falcons Cuts and Roster Tracker

The Atlanta Falcons must trim their roster to an NFL Mandated 53 players by 4 p.m. EST on Tuesday afternoon.

We’ll keep track of the 80-man roster as it stood in the morning and reveal cuts as they come in. You’ll get a look at the current roster and cut players at the bottom as we strikethrough player who have been cut.

2:50 p.m. Atlanta Falcons release the 53-man roster including cuts of DB Corey Ballentine, TE Anthony Firsker, TE Tucker Fisk, LB Nick Kwiatkoski, OL Jonotthan Harrison, OL Tyler Vrabel, DL Abdullah Anderson, OL Colby Gossett, DL Darrion Daniels, LB Jordan Brailford, DB Matt Hankins, DB Teez Tabor, FB John Raine and DL Nick Thurman.

The biggest surprise on here for me is the release of interior defensive lineman Abdullah Anderson. At times he looked like the best defensive player on the field. The Falcons are still short on bodies on the defensive line, and he was a standout in the preseason at nose guard and end.

With just five defensive lineman on the 53, including the unreliable Marlon Davidson, the Falcons will definitely be making a move on the defensive line (or several) before Week 1 against the Saints.

For a player to be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to start the season, he must be on the initial 53-man roster. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Davidson added to the PUP list, making him ineligible for duty until after Week 4, and Anderson re-signed.

8/31 6:30 p.m. Michael Rothstein reports the Falcons have cut safety Dean Marlowe and cornerback Michael Ford to make room for waivers claims defensive tackle Matt Dickerson and offensive tackle Chuma Edoga.

1:44 p.m. D. Orlando Ledbetter has added the name Ryan Neuzil to the list of cuts. Neuzil was the Falcons highest graded offensive player by Pro Football Focus in the win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has to be considered another strong candidate for the practice squad.

1:35 p.m. The Falcons have waived camp standout, defensive tackle Derrick Tangelo according to Michael Rothstein. Atlanta has to hope he clears waivers and is available for the practice squad. He was a surprise player in the preseason.

12:48 p.m. Ian Rapoport reports safety Henry Black has been released.

12:47 p.m. Michael Rothstein reports the Falcons have waived former Arizona Cardinals starting receiver KeeSean Johnson.

11:03 a.m. Michael Rothstein reports linebacker Dorian Etheridge and offensive tackle Leroy Watson have been cut. Etheridge was with the Falcons last year on mainly on the practice squad, and both players are candidates this year.

10:32 a.m. Jeremy Fowler reports wide receiver Cameron Batson is being waived.

10:16 a.m. D. Orlando Ledbetter lists OL Justin Shaffer, RB Qadree Ollison, WR Frank Darby, RB Caleb Huntley, TE MyCole Pruitt and WR Stanley Berryhill as players being cut by the Falcons.

8:01 a.m. Wide receiver Frank Darby becomes the first player drafted by Terry Fontenot to get cut as reported by Adam Schefter. Darby was a sixth-round draft choice in 2021 and will likely be invited to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
