Atlanta Falcons Lose No. 2 WR To Philadelphia Eagles

Olamide Zaccheaus was the second leading receiver for the Atlanta Falcons in 2022 with 40 catches for 533 yards. The free agent receiver has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles according to his agents.

Zaccheaus had been an Atlanta Falcons player for the first-four years of his NFL career. Still just 25-years old, he leaves Atlanta with 94 catches for 1,328 yards and eight touchdowns.

He saw his tender picked up in March of 2022 that paid him $2.4 million last season. The news of his tender came out moments before it was announced Russell Gage had signed big contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Zaccheaus did a good job of stepping up and filling Gage’s shoes in 2022 and was leaned on heavily early in the season.

He saw his production wane towards the latter half of last season as he only had 168-yards receiving over his last seven games. Throw out a 91-yard Week 12 effort against Washington, and Zaccheaus had just 77 yards in six of his last seven games with the Falcons.

The Falcons have signed a pair of receivers during free agency while not appearing to prioritize Zaccheaus. Scotty Miller is the most direct replacement for Zaccheaus at 5’9 and 179 pounds; Miller is also a force on special teams.

The Falcons are still in the market for a wide receiver in next week’s NFL Draft. They have brought in players like Jonathan Mingo of Ole Miss, Nebraska’s Trey Palmer, and Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba for visits during the evaluation process.
