Atlanta Falcons Re-Sign former Stanford Tight End

Former Stanford tight end Tucker Fisk is back with the Atlanta Falcons the team announced on Friday.

To make room for him on the 80-man roster, they released offensive lineman Rick Leonard.

Fisk is a bit of an oddity with his signing and presence in camp. He had nine-career receptions at Stanford…

At a listed 6’4 and 278 pounds, Fisk isn’t being brought in to backup Kyle Pitts as a receiving threat. Fisk is in camp as a Lee Smith replacement.

Smith, mostly a blocker his entire career, played just one season with the Falcons before retiring at the end of last year.

Leonard was originally drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 2018 and had bounced around practice squads for much of his career. He made his NFL debut with the Falcons last season, appearing in two games.

The Falcons have until Tuesday afternoon to cut the roster from 80 players to an NFL-mandated 53. Back-end of the roster players have one final chance to try and make the 53 on Saturday in Atlanta’s final preseason game.

The Falcons take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at 3:00 p.m. EST on Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
