BR Projects Falcons to Fall Under Win Projection

Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon projected all 32 NFL teams win totals on July 19. Gagnon likes five NFC teams who didn’t make the postseason last year to have more victories than Las Vegas predicted. However, the Atlanta Falcons are not one of them.

Gagnon not only projected the Falcons to finish under their 8.5-win total from DraftKings Sportsbooks, but he picked them to go 7-10 again.

“The Falcons are the definition of mediocre in almost every single way,” Gagnon wrote. “There isn’t enough talent on either side of the ball for them to make a run, but there’s just enough to hang around .500 in a bad division.

“The jury’s still also very much out on Desmond Ridder.”

No NFC South team had a winning record in 2022, and Gagnon only sees the New Orleans Saints winning nine games this year.

Gagnon projected New Orleans to go under its 9.5 win total from Draft Kings, but just barely under with nine victories. Furthermore, Gagnon projected the Carolina Panthers to be over their 7.5-win total projection but only at eight wins.

In summary, he sees a tightly contested race in the NFC South like last year. Every team in the division was 7-10 or 8-9 during 2022. Gagnon predicted the Saints, Panthers and Falcons to all have 7-9 wins in 2023.

But he sees the Falcons in third out of those three teams. He chose the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to finish in last with six wins.

Furthermore, Gagnon selected the Commanders, Lions, Packers and Rams for over their win totals. Counting the Panthers, those were the five non-playoff NFC teams Gagnon picked for the over this year.

The only NFC South team he projected over their win total was the Panthers.

If the Falcons go 7-10, they will finish with seven victories for the fifth time in the last six years. The Falcons haven’t had a winning season or made the playoffs since 2017.
