CBS Sports’ Winners and Losers: Bijan Robinson

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson had a brief but tantalizing debut last Friday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

He caught the eye of not just Falcons’ fans, but national pundits in the media. CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan listed Robinson on his list of Winners and Losers from Preseason Week 2. It shouldn’t be hard to figure which side Robinson landed.

Winner: Bijan Robinson

“Rookie running back Bijan Robinson made his preseason debut with the Falcons in their matchup against the Bengals and didn’t disappoint,” wrote Sullivan. “While he didn’t get a ton of action, what we did see from the No. 8 overall pick flashed the type of game-breaking ability that many expect him to have right out of the gate. On his first carry, Robinson weaved his way around defenders for a 12-yard gain.”

Robinson followed up his run with a nifty one-handed catch.

The Falcons caused chuckles on Monday night when they released their “final preseason depth chart” and left Bijan Robinson in the three hole.

Robinson is a good bet to lead the Falcons in touches every week he’s on the field. He flashed the ability that has made him an early Rookie of the Year candidate.

Calling him a running back is a disservice to what he means to this offense. He’s a playmaker. The Falcons will get him the ball in a variety of ways and will justify the No. 8 overall pick that ESPN Analytics called “indefensible” (Keep this one bookmarked for Freezing Cold Takes).
