The Atlanta Falcons and Mike Davis came to terms yesterday on a two-year deal worth $5.5M. Ian Rapoport reported the news on Twitter.
Last month we named Davis as one of the running backs the Falcons could target in free agency saying at the time:
The Falcons know first hand what Mike Davis (28) is capable of; Davis bruised the Falcons in Week 5 with 149 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. At $3M in 2020, Davis was still paid roughly half of what the Falcons paid Gurley. An Atlanta native, Davis has never been the full time feature back, but he knows the Falcons, knows the division, and might be willing to sign a short term deal.
Davis had 642 yards rushing with the Panthers last season on 165 carries (3.9 avg.), and he also had a whopping 59 receptions out of the backfield.
Davis had his best game in 2020 vs. the Falcons when he rushed for 89 yards and had nine catches for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Davis attendend Stephenson High School near Stone Mountain before attending South Carolina.
