Falcons an Option for J.J. Watt?

J.J. Watt just became the most intriguing free agent in the NFL after being released from the Houston Texans. Could the Atlanta Falcons be a possibility?

Short answer… probably not. The Falcons are going to have to do some creative work just to get UNDER the 2021 NFL Salary Cap. Currently only five players, Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Grady Jarrett, Jake Matthews and Dante Fowler, make up 66% of the Falcons total cap according to Spotrac.

Others who cover the Falcons agree.

Watt appears to be willing to take a discount in 2021, but that would likely be Green Bay or Pittsburgh. Watt is from Wisconsin and was a Wisconsin Badger before the NFL, and his brothers are with Pittsburgh.

Watt posted a message on social media saying goodbye to the Texans fans.

Watt has been lauded for his work in the community, earning him a Sports Illustrated Person of the Year in 2017.
