Falcons’ Bijan Robinson Hype Building Nationally

The offseason for running back Bijan Robinson was all about how versatile an offensive weapon he is going to be for the Atlanta Falcons.

That narrative has followed Robinson into training camp. It’s now reached a national level.

NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe walked away extremely impressed with Robinson after seeing him at Falcons training camp. On July 29, Wolfe predicted the rookie to have a big first season in the NFL.

“Falcons coaches and players have told me all offseason. Their rookie first-round pick Bijan Robinson is more than just a running back, and I saw it up close at Falcons camp,” Wolfe said in a report on NFL Network. “Bijan had a good day running inside the trenches, particularly in the red zone as a running back. He will do that a lot this year.

“But his highlight play came lined up as a wide receiver. In one-on-ones against linebacker Troy Andersen, a pretty good coverage player, he knocked off that delicious double move, beat him deep, and had that acrobatic catch, bringing in an overthrown ball from Desmond Ridder.”

Wolfe added that the Falcons foresee playing Robinson in the offensive backfield, at slot receiver and possibly out wide in a receiver role. Wolfe reported that the rookie is also exploring the possibility of returning kickoffs.

The Falcons still have Cordarrelle Patterson. The veteran is expected to be Atlanta’s primary kickoff returner. But Robinson is gaining experience through camp in the role as insurance.

Robinson impressed Wolfe so much that the NFL Network reporter wrote on Twitter that his biggest player takeaway after watching two days of Falcons training camp was “Robinson is going to have an incredible year.”

“Don’t like to overhype rookies but Bijan looks even better than advertised especially as a pass catcher,” wrote Wolfe.

There’s still a long way to go until the regular season starts. But, Robinson appears off to a terrific start.
