Former 1st-Round LB Visiting Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in former Tennessee Titans first-round draft pick Rashaan Evans for a visit according to Adam Schefter.

“Free-agent linebacker and former Titans’ first round pick Rashaan Evans is visiting today with the Falcons, per source,” wrote Schefter on Twitter. “Falcons’ HC Arthur Smith and DC Dean Pees coached him in Tennessee with the Titans.”

Evans (26) was originally a first-round pick of the Titans in the 2018 when they took him 22nd overall in the NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama.

He had 53 tackles as a rookie and started every game in 2019 and 2020. His best season was his second in Tennessee when he had 111 tackles and nine tackles for loss. Deion Jones led the Falcons last season with eight tackles for loss.

Evans made $3.7 million last season with the Titans according to Spotrac, but Tennessee declined to pick up his fifth-year option of $9.7 million for 2022, making him a free agent.

The Falcons would be looking to bring Evans in to replace the departed Foye Oluokun who led the NFL in tackles last year. Oluokun signed a big free agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars at the beginning of free agency.

Evans would bring a bigger presence to the middle of the Falcons defense. Oluokun led the league in tackles, but he checked in at only 215 pounds. Evans is listed 6’2 and 232 pounds.

Coming out of Alabama, Evans had a standing broad jump of 116″, a vertical jump of 30.0″, a short shuttle of 4.36 and an impressive 3-Cone time of 6.95.
