Former Atlanta Falcons safety Ricardo Allen has visited with the Cincinnati Bengals according to ESPN’s Adam Shefter.
Allen was released by the Falcons two weeks ago along with defensive end Allen Bailey to free up salary cap space. The two moved combined shave nearly $11 million off the cap for 2021.
Allen played for the Falcons for seven years and totaled 11 interceptions. His best season may have been in 2019 when he had 85 tackles, four tackles for loss, and two interceptions.
Never a Pro-Bowl selection, Allen was nonetheless popular with the fans and on the team. His presence will be missed in the Atlanta secondary and locker room.
Losing Allen and Keanu Neal saves the Falcons roughly $10 Million on the cap this in 2021, but puts Atlanta in a bind needing to replace two starting safeties.
We took a look at three value safeties the Falcons could add in the draft. They’ll have to come out of April’s draft with at least one player they hope can provide valuable minutes in the secondary.
