The Tennessee Titans are expected to end their one-year relationship with Julio Jones according to a report from Dianna Russini and confirmed by Ian Rapoport.
“The Titans are planning on releasing WR Julio Jones, sources tell Adam Schefter and me,” reported Russini on Twitter.
Jones battled injuries in 2020 his final season in Atlanta before requesting a trade. The Falcons shipped him to the Titans for cap relief and a second-round pick.
Jones flopped in Tennessee with just 31 catches for 434 yards, both career lows.
Ironically, Jones still counts $15.5 million against the Falcons 2022 salary cap as dead money that was spread across two seasons. Would it make sense to try and bring Jones back on a bargain deal?
He’s already taking up 7.5% of the Falcons cap, Atlanta might as well get something back for it.
