Atlanta Falcons rookie tight end was a Pro Bowl selection in 2021 after he broke the Falcons franchise record for yards by a first-year player. His 1,056 yards passed Julio Jones’ previous record of 959 set in 2011.
He came close to setting an NFL record in the same category, but fell short of Mike Ditka’s 1,076 yards set in 1961. To be fair, Ditka set his record in a 14-game season, but it was also a career high for Ditka. The Hall of Famer never broke 1,000 yards again in his 12-year career.
Breaking 1,000 yards should become common place for Pitts with his size, speed, and catching ability. At 83 3/8″, Pitts had the longest wingspan of any tight end or receiver in the NFL the last 20 years.
Pitts showed off his natural ability throughout the 2021 season, and the Falcons compiled his Top 10 plays on Twitter.
