New Atlanta Falcons Safety Erik Harris Highlights

Erik Harris signed with the Atlanta Falcons last week after spending four years in the Raiders organization. The 30 year old safety has worked his way from working in a potato chip factory and overcoming a serious knee injury to starting 26 games for the Raiders this last two seasons.

The Falcons lost three safeties who started for them in 2020 including Keanu Neal who signed with Dallas last week. Bringing in an experienced veteran was a must for Atlanta as the Falcons will also look to the draft to rebuild their secondary.

Harris’ best season in the NFL came in 2019 with the Raiders when he started 14 of 16 games and had three interceptions including two returned for touchdowns. He posted 74 tackles that year and followed it up with 61 tackles in 2020.

Harris played his college ball in relative obscurity for the California University Vulcans in Pennsylvania. The Vulcans lined up against the likes of Edinboro and Gannon.

From Cal U, Harris played forthe Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL for three seasons before being signed by the New Orleans Saints in 2016.

To say Harris has taken the long road to the NFL would be an understatement.

Here is a look at some of Harris’ highlights with the Raiders.
