Fields went to High School at Harrison in Kennesaw, Ga. before signing with Georgia. He transferred from Georgia to Ohio State and led the Buckeyes to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game before losing to Alabama.
AllFalcons has been an advocate of Fields for several weeks (Fields is the Pick). For him to fall to Atlanta, Reuter has Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence to Jacksonville, BYU quarterback Zach Wilson to Carolina after a trade with the Jets, and Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell to Miami.
In 2020 Fields through for 2,100 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions. This followed up a remarkable 2019 campaign of 3,273 yards, 41 touchdowns against only three interceptions.
Reuter has the Falcons selecting Clemson running back Travis Etienne with the 35th overall pick in the second round. Etienne was a rare four year running back who had 4,952 yards rushing and a whopping 70 touchdowns with the Tigers.
If the Falcons don’t resign Todd Gurley, they will need a front line running back, and getting one in the second round makes sense. According to Reuter’s mock, Etienne would be the second running back off the board behind Alabama’s Najee Harris to the New York Jets at 23.
Gurley has shown an interest in returning to Atlanta, but his price tag might be a bit high.
Reuter has the Falcons taking edge rusher Ronnie Perkins with the 68th overall pick. The defensive end out of Oklahoma was in the first round in multiple mock drafts a month ago, but has seen his stock drop in recent weeks.
The 6’3 and 250 pound Perkins could see his stock rise again with a good combine and pro-day showing. Perkins had 16.5 sacks in three years with the Sooners including 5.5 in 2020.
