PFF Ranks the Atlanta Falcons Schedule

The Atlanta Falcons schedule was released earlier this month, and on paper at least, it looks like it’s set up for Atlanta to make a playoff run.

The NFC South is matched up with the AFC South for their crossover games. Pro Football Focus ranks those two divisions as the worst in the NFL. With six games against the NFC South and four against the AFC South, Atlanta’s schedule looks favorable.

PFF agrees, but they still don’t like the Falcons’ chances of making the playoffs. They rank the Falcons with the second easiest schedule, behind only the Saints, but they project just 6.5 wins.

Projected win total: 6.5
Easiest game: Week 10 vs. Arizona Cardinals
Hardest game: Week 4 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Falcons have a Week 11 bye, which may help propel them to a good spot. However, they will have to get through a tough three-game stretch that pits them against Green Bay, Detroit and Jacksonville starting in Week 2. To do well in their division, they will need to beat the Saints at least once after their bye.

Amelia Probst,

The early betting lines had the Falcons with 8.5 wins against the second easiest schedule in the NFL. With back to back seven-win seasons, it’s hard to picture the Falcons going backwards in 2023 after adding at least 10-new starters via free agency and the NFL Draft.

Despite being favored in just two games last year, the Falcons won seven. Looking at the schedule below, it’s easy to see the Falcons being favored in at least eight games.

If the Falcons overachieve like they have the first two seasons under Arthur Smith, they’ll be in the hunt for the playoffs come December.
