Former Atlanta Falcons running backs coach Bernie Parmalee was one of several causalities of the Atlanta Falcons coaching and front office purge in 2020.
But Parmalee has landed on his feet after taking the same position with the Jacksonville Jaguars according to NFL insider Adam Caplan.
Parmalee was hired by the Falcons in 2018. The Atlanta rushing attack was ranked 13th in 2017 before Parmalee was hired. Atlanta dropped to 27th in 2018, 30th in 2019, and finished 27th in 2020.
The Falcons have had only one 1,000 yard rusher in the past five seasons.
2016 Devona Freeman 1,079
2017 Devonta Freeman 865
2018 Tevin Coleman 800
2019 Devonta Freeman 656
2020 Todd Gurley 678
Obviously those numbers aren’t all on Parmalee, but a fresh start for the Falcons and Parmalee should be good for both parties.
The Falcons added Des Kitchings as their running backs coach two weeks ago. Kitchings joins the Falcons from the University of South Carolina were he served in the same role.
The Falcons are linked with former Clemson running back Travis Etienne in NFL.com’s latest mock draft.
