The Atlanta Falcons currently hold the No. 8 pick in the NFL Draft later this month. One player the Falcons were linked to early and often was cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. from LSU.
In fact, the first mock draft from the Atlanta Falcons official site had them taking Stingley at No. 8.
There have been injury concerns surrounding Stingley, but he may have helped put those to rest at his pro day where he ripped off an impressive 4.37 40-yard dash.
Stingley also had a 38.5″ vertical leap to show off his explosion.
Stingley measured 6’0 and 190 pounds at the NFL Combine, but his 30 5/8″ arms may be a concern. By comparison, Sauce Gardner of Cincinnati who has been the favorite as the first cornerback off the board, measured 6’3 and 190 pounds with 33 1/2″ arms.
The Falcons could have the option to take Gardner or Stingley at No. 8 overall in the draft later this month. Stingley’s stock had fallen through the pre-draft process, but he helped raise it again at his pro day today.
